Facial LiposculptureLiposuction is usually associated with body contouring cosmetic surgery in Phoenix, but it can be used for facial contouring as well. Many patients complain about excessively full cheeks, or too much fat under the chin. If they have good skin tone, these problems can frequently be corrected with delicate liposuction techniques. Save $50 on your surgical consultation with Dr. Cohen to learn more about facial liposculpture. The Scottsdale Center for Plastic Surgery is conveniently located for women and men living in Tempe, Paradise Valley and other areas of Greater Phoenix. The Liposculpture ConceptIf you think about the skin as a water balloon, and the fat as the water filling the balloon, when you remove water (fat), the balloon (skin) should shrink to the size of the new, smaller volume. This is the case with facial liposuction, where removing facial fat in the presence of healthy, elastic skin will allow the skin to shrink and improve the facial contours. At the Scottsdale Center for Plastic Surgery, for these types of procedures, I use a specialized liposuction cannula (tube) that allows the removal of precise amounts of fat with minimal trauma. Often, a dramatic difference in the definition of chins, jawlines and cheeks can be made with the removal of only a small amount of facial fat. Facial Liposuction near PhoenixMy Arizona patients often joke with me that they would like to take fat from one part of their body and place it somewhere else. In fact, this technique does exist and is called "fat grafting." I find that this procedure works best when I use small amounts of fat to help define and contour limited areas in the face. One particularly good example of facial fat grafting is the "nasolabial fold," which is the crease from the side of the nostril to the corner of the mouth. Patients with excessively deep folds will often benefit from fat grafting to "fill" these grooves. Although fat grafting may need to be repeated because the body absorbs a portion of the injected fat, it can still be an effective, minimally invasive procedure to help sculpt the face. At my Phoenix area medical office, fat grafting can be performed alone, or in conjunction with facial liposuction or other facial surgery.
