Power Assisted Liposuction Case 173

This patient is a 33 year old female from the Phoenix, Arizona area who presented to my Scottsdale, Arizona office with complaints of large, drooping breasts which caused neck, shoulder and back pain as well as rashes and bra strap grooving.  She was also unhappy with how her breast shape affected her overall body image.  Additionally, this patient had areas of excess fat of the bra fat areas, the abdomen and thighs which were resistant to diet and exercise.

On examination, I felt that this patient would be an excellent candidate for breast reduction surgery, which would not only dramatically affect her appearance, but would make her physically more comfortable as well.  I also recommended liposuction of the bra fat areas as well as the abdomen, flanks (love handles) and thighs to improve her shape.  Her abdomen had an irregular appearance prior to surgery, and in reality I felt that she needed a full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).  However, she was considering having more children, so this was not a reasonable option.

In surgery, I performed an anchor scar breast reduction leaving the nipple connected to the underlying breast tissue.  I also liposuctioned the bra fat area to narrow and round out her breasts.  Finally, I performed liposuction on the flanks, abdomen and thighs to help recontour these areas.

This patient recovered very nicely after surgery and was extremely happy with not only her new appearance, but also the significant improvement in her neck, back and shoulder discomfort.
