This is a 62 year old male who was in the passenger side of an off-road vehicle when a tree branch hit his right ear through the open window, shattering the cartilage and creating multiple full thickness cuts in the skin. I saw this patient in the emergency room, washed the debris out the ear, trimmed the damaged cartilage, and meticulously sutured the skin back together. He healed without an infection and has nearly invisible scars.
