This patient is a 50 year old male from the Phoenix, Arizona area who presented to my Scottsdale, Arizona medical practice with interest in otoplasty (ear reshaping surgery). Specifically, this patient's left ear had more projection than the right ear, and also had a "pointy" appearance. This patient wished to have his left ear more closely match his right ear appearance.
I recommended a left sided otoplasty with the goal of using internal stitches to properly fold the cartilage of the upper ear, thereby matching it to the patient's right ear. In surgery, I used multiple internal sutures to refold the patient's cartilage in this fashion, and I was able to achieve a significant improvement in symmetry between the patient's ears.
After surgery, this patient healed nicely and was very happy with his improved appearance and symmetry.
