This patient is a 61 year old male from the Glendale, Arizona area who presented to my Scottsdale, Arizona area medical practice with concerns regarding his ears. Specifically, he felt that his ears "stuck out too much". This was something that had bothered him his entire life, and he finally decided that he was ready to improve his ears surgically. This patient wanted a very natural result, and did not want his ears overdone.
I recommended an otoplasty (ear reshaping surgery) to correct the improperly formed cartillage of the ears and to reduce the ear prominence. This surgery was performed under general anethesia, and I used internal stitching to improve the shape of the ears. The only incision is hidden on the back side of the ears.
The patient did very well after surgery and recovered without any issues. He was very pleased with the improved shape, symmetry and positioning of his ears.
