The patient is a 46-year-old female who presented to my office who complains of excessive fullness in the abdomen, which I felt was partially due to general laxity of the abdominal wall as well as intraabdominal fat. I expressed that the patient would need to lose more weight to get as flat an abdomen as possible. However, I felt that significant improvement would still be possible with abdominoplasty. The patient reported that she would be frequently asked is she was pregnant, which was extremely upsetting for her.

In surgery I performed a complex abdominoplasty with many layers of fascial plication (abdominal wall tightening) in order to create the fattest possible abdomen for her anatomy.  Her recovery was longer than typical due to the degree of tightening, however she was incredibly happy with her results and felt that she looked like a “regular person” again.
