Breast Reduction Case 48

This is a 17 year old female from the Phoenix, Arizona area who came with her mother to my Scottsdale, Arizona area medical practice regarding breast reduction surgery.  This patient reported constant problems with back, neck and shoulder pain, rashes, bra strap grooving, difficulty finding clothes that fit, and problems with unwanted attention to her chest.  She and her mother both felt that her life would be significantly improved with a breast reduction.  She was a 36 DD and wished to be a C cup in size.

I felt that this patient would be an excellent candidate for a breast reduction.  Given her good skin quality and breast measurements, I recommended a vertical (also known as a LeJour or lollipop pattern) breast reduction in order to get the best, most natural shape and to avoid a scar under the breast.

With consent from both the patient and her mother, I performed a vertical breast reduction without complications.  The patient immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in her physical symptoms and was thrilled with her physical appearance.  Two months after surgery (when the postop photos were taken) the patient had complete resolution of her back, neck and shoulder pain, rashes, and bra strap grooving.  He posture was much better, and seemed to be a much happier person in general.  As her mother told my office manager, her daughter's surgery  was "the best investment she ever made".
